RJOS/AMWA Medical Student and Resident Webinar Series
The Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society (RJOS), in collaboration with the American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA), is pleased to offer this webinar series to assist medical students and residents in navigating the changes to virtual meetings, ERAS applications, virtual interviews and residency program matches during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The recording of the first webinar in this series, RJOS/AMWA Medical Student Webinar, held on Thursday, July 16, 2020, is now available. The webinar panelists were Letitia Bradford, MD, Ginger E. Holt, MD, Monica Kogan, MD, Dawn LaPorte, MD, Linda Suileman, MD, and Kim Templeton, MD.
Webinar Description: With the cancellation of most away rotations during the pandemic, women medical students who are interested in careers in orthopaedic surgery may have limited or no opportunities to meet with women orthopaedic faculty and residents. To address this, a group of women orthopaedic surgery residency program directors, working through the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society, will be providing opportunities for medical students who identify as female to discuss, through virtual meetings, ERAS applications, how to develop a personal statement, and how to ask for effective letters of recommendation. We will also provide tips on how to present yourself and your accomplishments through virtual interviews. Future meetings will allow interested participants to meet with female orthopaedic residents from programs around the country, as well as opportunities to practice and receive feedback on brief virtual interviews.
